Promoting a more just world order by empowering women
“Human rights have no gender” – these words form the German feminist and author Hedwig Dohm are present today now more then ever. Gender inequality and injustice are ever present around the globe. It will be the task of the delegates of the ECOSOC to construct a more fair and just world by overcoming the apparent problems of gender inequality all around the world.

Dear Delegates,
Welcome to 3MUN 2021. I feel honored to serve your chair in this years ECOSOC.
Taking part at MUN conferences now for two years, not only have I managed to improve my public speaking skills I have also been made aware of some more unknown global crisis and relearned a lot about crisis I thought I knew everything about. This year’s ECOSOC Topic “Promoting a more just world by empowering women” – is a topic most of us are aware of, however often at loss of what to do exactly to overcome misogyny in our everyday life. Therefore it is important that we, the ECOSOC, tackle this issue with legislative measures as well as cooperative arrangements.
I hope that you, as delegates will come prepared and that you plan to find solutions and compromises with your fellow delegates.
On a more personal note, I am a 14 year old student at the Dreilinden Gymnasium and currently attending 11th Grade. Besides from MUN I enjoy reading, playing the piano and traveling.
I look forward to seeing you all in October.
Sincerely,
Laura Brandt

Dear delegates,
Welcome to the ECOSOC committee! I am greatly excited and honored to be a chair of this committee this year.
My name is Estella and I attend the Nelson Mandela School. My MUN journey began in sixth grade and since then, my love for engaging in debate has increased more than I thought it could. Moreover, it’s helped me hone my public speaking skills and working with others to come to joint solutions. One of my favorite aspects of MUN is having the opportunity to meet new people and make connections around the world. Therefore, it brings me great joy to know I will once again have this opportunity.
Personally, I find our committee topic to be one of extreme importance, and I hope you think so too. While the issue is often overlooked or perhaps even regarded as a “given” or unnecessary, we must acknowledge it to provide a better world for people of all identities. Empowering women is key to ensuring success in our globalized world, especially in regards to the differences between the status of development in varied regions. We cannot have a just and fair world without considering the role of women. I hope you are all prepared to engage in invigorating debate to reach viable solutions to this ever-present issue. I look forward to meeting all of you in April.
Sincerely,
Estella Pohr
Chair of the Economic and Social Council
